The Brecon Beacons has many walks to offer, and the castle makes an ideal base to explore some of the best. These are a few that are popular with our past residents.

Waterfalls at Ystradfellte
These spectacular waterfalls are a favourite with guests. There are several trails to choose from with a range of distances and difficulty, suiting a casual walk or more serious hike.

Pen y Fan and Corn Du
Pen y Fan is the tallest and most popular peak in the Brecon Beacons. With breath-taking views from the top its one of the most rewarding walks in Wales. Again, there are several routes you can take, so you can spend anything from a couple of hours to all day walking depending on your plans.

Usk Reservoir
A nice relaxing walk nearby is around the Usk reservoir. There is plenty of wildlife to see including mountain ponies and red kites.
